Derinya Kap\u0131s\u0131 A\u00e7\u0131ls\u0131n!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ma\u011fusa b\u00f6lgesi hem kuzeyde hem g\u00fcneyde ciddi ekonomik darbo\u011fazlar ya\u015farken, i\u015fletmeler pe\u015f pe\u015fe iflas ederken, b\u00f6lge gen\u00e7leri di\u011fer kentlere ve yurtd\u0131\u015f\u0131na g\u00f6\u00e7 etmek zorunda kal\u0131rken daha fazla susup oturamay\u0131z!<\/p>\n

Halihaz\u0131rda \u0130ki Bu\u00e7uk Mil (Akyar) ge\u00e7i\u015f kap\u0131s\u0131ndan Derinya\u2019ya ula\u015fmak i\u00e7in 17 kilometre fazladan yol kat etmekteyiz. Halbuki Derinya Kap\u0131s\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131l\u0131rsa 17 kilometre yerine 800 metre kat ederek Derinya\u2019yla Ma\u011fusa\u2019y\u0131 bulu\u015fturmak m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olacakt\u0131r. B\u00f6ylesi bir a\u00e7\u0131l\u0131m mesafeleri k\u0131salt\u0131rken, toplumlararas\u0131 ili\u015fkilerin peki\u015ftirilmesine, insani ihtiya\u00e7lar\u0131n daha kolay giderilmesine ve b\u00f6lge esnaf\u0131n\u0131n mal ve hizmetlerini daha rahat pazarlamas\u0131na olanak sa\u011flayacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n

\u0130leride olas\u0131 bir durumda Kapal\u0131 Mara\u015f\u2019\u0131n yeniden yerle\u015fime a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131 \u00f6ng\u00f6r\u00fclmektedir. Ma\u011fusa\u2019n\u0131n yeniden birle\u015fmesine kadarki ge\u00e7i\u015f d\u00f6neminde, \u00f6zellikle her iki yakas\u0131nda ya\u015fayan K\u0131br\u0131sl\u0131 T\u00fcrklerle Rumlar kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kl\u0131 g\u00fcveni art\u0131rmaya acilen ihtiya\u00e7 duymaktad\u0131r. Yak\u0131n zamanda Birle\u015fmi\u015f Milletler \u0130nsan Haklar\u0131 Komitesi de K\u0131br\u0131s\u2019ta ge\u00e7i\u015f noktalar\u0131n\u0131n a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131na y\u00f6nelik \u00e7abalara destek vererek, ge\u00e7i\u015f noktalar\u0131n\u0131n say\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n art\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131n toplumlararas\u0131 diyalo\u011fa ve g\u00fcvene olumlu katk\u0131 yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 vurgulam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n

Gerek uluslararas\u0131 gerekse yerel dinamikler Derinya kap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n a\u00e7\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131n gereklili\u011fine dikkat \u00e7ekerken, bug\u00fcn de b\u00f6lgedeki halk, sivil toplum ve siyasi parti temsilcileri olarak bunu vurgulamak \u00fczere buraday\u0131z.<\/p>\n

Open Deryneia Checkpoint<\/strong><\/p>\n

While eperiencing economic bottlenecks, bankrupting businesses one after another and the youth migration to other main cities or abroad on both northern and southern sides of Famagusta, we cannot sit and wait any longer.<\/p>\n

At the moment, we\u2019ve to take an extra 17 km. drive to get access to Deryneia from Strovilia (two & a half miles) checkpoint. However, if Deryneia checkpoint is opened, it\u2019ll be possible to bring together Deryneia and Famagusta in 800 metres instead of the existing distance of 17 kilometres.<\/p>\n

Such an opening will shorten the distance, improve intercommunal relations, meet the humanitarian needs and help local suppliers to market their goods and services more easily.<\/p>\n

In the coming years, it\u2019s predicted that the sealed off section of Varosha is most probably going to be opened for resettlement . For the transitional period until resettlement, particularly the Greek and Turkish Cypriots already living on both sides of Famagusta, need to build confidence urgently.<\/p>\n

Under the conditions of today, enhancing cooperation and fostering dialogue is likely if and only if an easy access checkpoint is opened and that is Deryneia for sure.<\/p>\n

Very recently, UN Human Rights Committee supported the efforts for opening checkpoints and emphasized the fact that increasing the number of checkpoints positively contributes to intercommunal trust and dialogue.<\/p>\n

Where there\u2019s a consensus by national and international actors for the opening of Deryneia checkpoint, we\u2019re here today as the local people, civil society and political party representatives to put an emphasis on such a need.<\/p>\n
